SEO for Appliance Repair: Pages by Appliance and Brand
SEO for appliance repair is the work of getting an appliance repair company found in Google's map pack, organic results and AI answers by homeowners who need a machine fixed, usually searching by appliance or brand. The biggest searches name the machine, so the work is one honest page per appliance and brand you really service, plus a matching Business Profile.
How customers search for appliance repair companies
Most people do not search for an appliance repair company. They search for the machine, and often the maker. 'Washing machine repair' is about as large as 'appliance repair near me', and 'whirlpool washer repair' alone is about 135,000 a month. A smaller group types the symptom, such as 'dryer not heating' or 'refrigerator not cooling', before deciding whether to call anyone. The click prices differ by phrase: about $3.40 for 'dryer not heating' and about $3.64 for 'refrigerator not cooling', against about $7.60 to $12.40 for the repair-plus-appliance phrases in the table. That is a fact about what advertisers pay, not proof about who the searchers are. The practical consequence is page architecture. A single 'appliance repair' page cannot be the best answer for a Samsung refrigerator, a Whirlpool washer and a gas oven at once.
- Brand terms are large but uneven. 'Whirlpool washer repair' (about 135,000) and 'samsung refrigerator repair' (about 60,500) dwarf 'ge appliance repair' (about 12,100), so the order in which you build brand pages matters more than having one for every brand.
- 'Refrigerator not cooling' ran about 9,900 searches in June, July and August 2026 and about 5,400 in February 2026.
- 'Dryer not heating' held at about 12,100 a month from September 2025 to January 2026 and about 9,900 from February to August 2026.
- 'Appliance repair cost' swung between about 390 and 4,400 searches a month over the last twelve months, which is too erratic to plan around.
- A search for a brand's name cannot tell you whether the person wants the manufacturer's own service or an independent shop. Say which you are on the page.
| Search term | Monthly US searches | Google Ads cost per click |
|---|---|---|
| appliance repair near me | 201,000 | $9.71 |
| washing machine repair | 201,000 | $11.00 |
| whirlpool washer repair | 135,000 | $7.61 |
| refrigerator repair near me | 74,000 | $12.36 |
| samsung refrigerator repair | 60,500 | $10.46 |
| dryer repair near me | 49,500 | $11.93 |
| ice maker repair | 40,500 | $10.23 |
| dishwasher repair near me | 22,200 | $12.01 |
| oven repair near me | 14,800 | $10.65 |
| ge appliance repair | 12,100 | $10.85 |
| dryer not heating | 9,900 | $3.40 |
| refrigerator not cooling | 8,100 | $3.64 |

The SEO checklist for appliance repair companies
Build one page per appliance you actually repair
A washer page, a dryer page, a refrigerator page and so on, each describing what you repair on that machine, what the visit involves and what a common failure looks like. Pages for appliances you do not service attract calls you then turn down, and those calls burn the same phone line.
Seven starting pages: washer, dryer, refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, oven and range, microwave, ice maker. Skip any you would not send a truck for.
Add brand pages in order of search volume, only for brands you service
Start where the searches are. 'Whirlpool washer repair' draws about 135,000 searches a month and 'samsung refrigerator repair' about 60,500. State plainly that you are an independent repair company, not the manufacturer, unless you hold a written manufacturer authorization. Claim 'factory authorized' only if you can produce the letter.
Write 'Independent repair service for Whirlpool washers' rather than a bare 'Whirlpool repair' headline, and list the model families you have worked on.
Answer the symptom searches with a safe first check and a clear handoff
A person typing 'dryer not heating' or 'refrigerator not cooling' is deciding whether to call. Give two or three checks a homeowner can do safely, then say which signs mean unplug it and call. Write them for the reader who cannot fix it and needs to know when to stop.
For a refrigerator page: check the thermostat setting and the coils, then name the signs (warm freezer, running compressor that never cools) that need a technician.
Publish how your diagnostic fee works
The question a caller has before booking is what the visit costs if the repair is not done. Say what the diagnostic or trip fee covers, whether it is credited toward the repair, and what warranty comes with parts and labor. You do not have to print a dollar figure, but you do have to print the structure.
A fee box on every appliance page: diagnostic fee yes or no, credited to the repair yes or no, warranty on parts and labor in days.
Put repair versus replace guidance on the page and use the owner's words
Consumer Reports' January 2014 release said "don't spend more than 50 percent of the cost of a new product on repairing an old one." Quote it with its date and then add your own view by appliance: which repairs you would do on an older machine and which you would not.
A short table by appliance: repairs you recommend, repairs where replacement usually makes sense, and where to find the model and serial plate.
Write credentials exactly as they are issued
Whether a job needs EPA Section 608 certification depends on the refrigerant in the unit, and household refrigerators charged with isobutane (R-600a) are exempt (the rule text is in the FAQ below). Our advice is stricter than the law: have every technician who works on refrigerators and freezers hold Type I, because you may not know the refrigerant before the visit. Name the certification type only as printed on each technician's card. Add your state registration number where your state requires one, and mention a manufacturer authorization only when you hold it in writing.
On the About page: 'All technicians who work on sealed refrigeration systems hold EPA Section 608 certification', plus your state registration or licence number if your state issues one.
Set up the Business Profile with one primary category and the right secondaries
Pick 'Appliance repair service' as the primary category. Add the appliance-specific categories you genuinely cover. Treat a category you cannot serve as a liability, not a bonus.
Primary: Appliance repair service. Secondaries that fit: Refrigerator repair service and Washer & dryer repair service.
State the same-day rule and parts policy where a caller can see it
A caller wants to know whether the truck can fix it on the first visit. If you carry common parts, say so. If a part must be ordered, say what the second visit looks like. Do not promise same-day service unless you can keep the promise on a normal day.
'Call before a cutoff you can keep for a same-day visit' with the cutoff time written out, and a line on how long a typical part order takes.
Collect the model and serial number on the first call or form
A diagnosis cannot start without the brand, model and a one-line symptom. Make the booking form and the call script ask for them, and show where the plate is on each appliance. It shortens the visit and tells you which page generated the lead.
Form fields: appliance, brand, model number, symptom, and a photo upload of the data plate.
Track calls by appliance page, not just in total
Appliance repair demand is divided across machines, so a total call count hides what works. Use a distinct tracking number or a form field per appliance page and review it monthly.
Compare calls from the washer page, the refrigerator page and the brand pages, and spend the next month's writing time on the one that books.
Google Business Profile for appliance repair companies
- Primary category
- Appliance repair service
- Secondary categories to consider
- Refrigerator repair service, Washer & dryer repair service, Microwave oven repair service, Small appliance repair service
- Services to list
- Washer repair, Dryer repair, Refrigerator repair, Freezer repair, Dishwasher repair, Oven and range repair, Cooktop repair, Microwave repair, Ice maker repair, Diagnostic visit
- Category names were checked against Dalton Luka's complete list, last updated May 9, 2026, on October 2, 2026. It includes 'Appliance repair service', 'Refrigerator repair service', 'Washer & dryer repair service', 'Microwave oven repair service' and 'Small appliance repair service'. Confirm the names in the Business Profile picker before saving.
- That list does not show a dishwasher, oven or range, or ice maker repair category, so put those in the services list and description. Check the picker in case Google adds one.
- 'Appliance parts supplier' and 'Appliance store' are also on the list. Add them only if you run a parts counter or sell units to the public, since they pull in different searches.
- Run the profile as a service-area business if customers do not come to a shop: hide the address and list the areas your trucks cover.
- Add real photos of your truck's parts shelf and technicians in uniform at work. Do not use manufacturer press images, which dozens of competitors reuse.
Getting found in ChatGPT and Google's AI answers
Assistants answer appliance questions in two shapes: a how-to question ('why is my dryer not heating') and a who-to-call question with a location. On the first, an AI answer can cover the common causes in a few lines, so a page that only lists causes adds little. What a page can add is detail an answer cannot invent: the checks you would do, the parts you stock, the fee structure and the credentials. On the second, plain-text facts such as fees, hours and credentials are what a page can offer that a how-to answer does not.
- Write each appliance page so one paragraph names the appliance, the repairs you do on it and the areas you cover, with the details in plain text and not only in an image.
- Publish the diagnostic fee structure, warranty length and same-day cutoff as plain sentences, since those are the questions an assistant is asked about a repair company.
- State credentials in words: the EPA Section 608 type, your state registration or licence number where one exists, and a manufacturer authorization only if you hold it.
- Keep the hours, services and categories identical on the site and on the Business Profile so the machine-readable copy agrees with the page.
- Search the brand-plus-appliance phrases you target and read which repair companies, parts sites and forums are named, then fill in what they leave out.
How much does SEO for appliance repair companies cost?
For an appliance repair company the work is a set of appliance and brand pages, symptom pages with real checks, a profile that matches, and the technical fixes that let them rank. What moves the price is how many appliance and brand pages you want, how many service areas need their own pages, and whether your technicians will supply the detail that makes the pages credible.
What affects the cost
- How many appliances and brands get their own pages. Each needs a technician's input on what fails and what you stock, and cannot be written from a template.
- How many service areas you cover. City pages have to describe real service coverage and not repeat the same copy with a swapped name.
- Whether the site can add pages. Some lead-generation templates cannot, and a rebuild costs more than an edit.
- Whether you want the diagnostic fee, parts policy and warranty written up, which takes an owner decision rather than a writer.
- How much the review profile needs: a company with few reviews and many appliances to cover needs a longer ramp.
| Option | Best for | Tradeoffs |
|---|---|---|
| DIY | A solo technician-owner who can write one honest page per week. | Your repair knowledge is the content others lack. The risk we would plan for is the day job: the washer page gets written and the refrigerator page never does. |
| Freelancer | A defined block of work such as an appliance page set or a Business Profile rebuild. | Check that the writer has repaired or interviewed someone who repairs appliances. Otherwise the pages read like every competitor's. |
| Agency | A company with several trucks and service areas that wants ongoing reporting by appliance. | Highest monthly cost. Ask who interviews your technicians, how the brand pages stay accurate, and what is reported beyond traffic. |
| Lead services and marketplaces | Filling the schedule during slow weeks without waiting on rankings. | You pay per lead or per plan, and the platform controls the customer relationship. Read each plan's terms on whether leads are shared with other repair companies. |

SEO vs. ads vs. lead services for appliance repair companies
| Channel | How you pay | Who owns it | Time to results | Exclusive leads? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SEO | Monthly work on pages, the profile and links, then no per-click charge on the traffic. | You own the site and the pages. | Months, longer for competitive appliance phrases than for brand and symptom pages. | Yes. The caller found your page. |
| Google Ads | Per click, at the average prices shown in the keyword table above. | You own the account, but traffic stops when the budget does. | Days after launch. | Yes, though the same person can click several ads. |
| Local Services Ads | Per lead. Google's migration page lists appliance repair in the August 2026 group moving into Google Ads, where existing campaigns become "a specialized Performance Max campaign type optimized specifically for pay-per-lead goals." | Google runs the platform and its ranking. | Fast once approved. Check your own Google Ads account for the verification steps it asks of appliance repair, since Google's Advanced Verification page names garage door and locksmith services and does not list appliance repair. | Leads come to you, but customers can call several companies from one results page. |
| Lead marketplaces and manufacturer service networks | Per lead, per job or by plan, depending on the network. | The network holds the customer and sets the terms. | Days after approval. | Check each contract. Some work is routed from a manufacturer or warranty company and some is shared. |
Turn rankings into booked jobs: answer every call
Ranking only pays if the phone is answered while a technician is under a machine or driving between jobs. The call is where the model number, the symptom and the arrival window get captured.
- Have the call handler ask four things in order: appliance, brand and model, symptom, and whether anything is leaking or smells of burning or gas. Anything unsafe gets a safety instruction before a booking.
- Tell the caller the diagnostic fee, what it is credited toward and the arrival window before the visit is booked.
- Send a text with the technician's name and arrival window so the customer is not still calling other shops.
- Capture the model and serial number by photo of the data plate, which saves a second visit for the wrong part.
- Flag calls from refrigerator and freezer pages as urgent in the call script, and offer the earliest slot first.

Seasonality for appliance repair companies
- June to August
- 'Refrigerator not cooling' ran about 9,900 US searches a month in June, July and August 2026 against about 5,400 in February 2026. Several 'near me' appliance terms, including oven, dishwasher and dryer, also jumped in August 2026 at the same time, which looks more like a data artifact than a real surge, so judge it against your own call log.
- September to January
- 'Dryer not heating' held at about 12,100 US searches a month from September 2025 to January 2026, before dropping to about 9,900. 'Oven repair near me' was about 12,100 in October and November 2025 and again in May 2026, against about 9,900 from December to March, so the oven series shows no clear holiday rise to plan around.
- December to March
- The quietest stretch for refrigerator symptom searches: 'refrigerator not cooling' was about 6,600 in December 2025, January 2026 and March 2026, and about 5,400 in February 2026. Use the slower weeks to write the brand and appliance pages you have not finished.
Common SEO mistakes appliance repair companies make
- One 'appliance repair' page for every machine and brand. Build separate pages for the appliances and brands you service, ordered by search volume. A washer page is the better answer to 'washing machine repair' than a general page.
- Writing 'factory authorized' without a written manufacturer authorization. Say 'independent repair service' unless you hold the authorization. If you do hold one, name the brand it covers and keep the letter on file.
- Hiding the diagnostic fee until the technician arrives. Print the fee structure on each appliance page: what it covers, whether it is credited to the repair, and the warranty on parts and labor.
- Listing appliances or brands you do not repair. Every brand and appliance on the site and the profile should be one you would send a truck for. Calls you decline waste the line and the ad money.
- Claiming Section 608 or state registration without checking each technician. Confirm each technician's card and your state's registration status before you print either claim, and use the certification type only as the card shows it.
- Reusing manufacturer photos and part diagrams on the site. Photograph your own work, parts shelf and technicians. Manufacturer images appear on dozens of competitor sites and tell a customer nothing about you.
- Offering a gift or discount only to customers who leave a five-star review. Ask every customer for an honest review. 16 CFR 465.4 bars incentives "conditioned expressly or by implication on, the writing or creation of consumer reviews expressing a particular sentiment, whether positive or negative", and Google's review policy bans incentives outright.
How long does SEO take for appliance repair companies?
- Month 1
Fix the Business Profile categories and services, add call tracking by page, publish the credentials and diagnostic fee text, and decide which appliances and brands you service.
- Months 2 to 3
Publish the appliance pages in order of search volume, then the first brand pages. Start sending every customer the review link after each repair, with no hint about what to write.
- Months 4 to 6
Symptom pages and repair-versus-replace guidance begin to bring in searches by problem. Compare calls by page and write more of what books.
- Months 7 to 12
Brand and appliance pages that matched search intent should be climbing, and the map pack should reflect a larger set of recent reviews. Review which pages produce booked jobs and prune any that do not.
Frequently asked questions
How much does SEO for an appliance repair company cost?
It depends on how many appliance and brand pages you want, how many service areas you cover and what shape the current site is in. The page set takes technician input, so cost follows how much of that you can give.
Will AI answers about broken dryers and refrigerators cut into repair calls?
An AI answer can list the usual reasons a dryer is not heating, so a page that only lists reasons adds little. A page that shows your diagnostic fee, your parts policy, your credentials and your service area gives a person and an assistant something to act on.
Can I do appliance repair SEO myself?
Yes, if you can write one honest page per appliance or brand each week. You know which parts fail and what a visit involves, which is what most competitors lack. We would expect time to be the stall point, so decide your first seven appliance pages and add one at a time.
How long does SEO take to bring in appliance repair calls?
Plan on months, not weeks. Profile fixes and tracked calls can show results within the first month or two. Brand pages, appliance pages and the review volume the map pack rewards build over several months.
What is the 50 percent rule for appliance repair?
Consumer Reports' January 2014 release said "don't spend more than 50 percent of the cost of a new product on repairing an old one." It is a consumer rule of thumb from an old survey, so use it as a starting point on a repair-versus-replace page and add your own view by appliance.
Do appliance repair technicians need EPA Section 608 certification?
Not for every job. 40 CFR 82.161(a)(1) says "Any person who could be reasonably expected to violate the integrity of the refrigerant circuit during the maintenance, service, repair, or disposal of appliances (as follows in this paragraph) containing a class I or class II refrigerant or a non-exempt substitute refrigerant must pass a certification exam offered by an approved technician certification program." Paragraph (a)(1)(i) adds: "Persons who maintain, service, or repair small appliances must be certified as Type I technicians." But 40 CFR 82.154(a)(1) says the substitutes it lists "are exempt from this prohibition and from the requirements of this subpart", and item (ix) is "Isobutane (R-600a) in retail food refrigerators and freezers (stand-alone units only); household refrigerators, freezers, and combination refrigerators and freezers; and vending machines". A washer or dryer repair that never touches a refrigerant circuit is outside the rule as well. Our advice is still Type I for every technician who works on refrigerators and freezers, because you may not know the refrigerant before the visit. That is stricter than the law requires for R-600a units. The text above was current on October 2, 2026; check EPA's Section 608 pages for changes.
Does my state require appliance repair registration?
It depends on the state. California is one example: Business and Professions Code section 9840 says "It shall be unlawful to act as a service dealer without first having registered in accordance with the provisions of this chapter and unless such registration is currently valid", and section 9801(f)(4) lists "Repairing, servicing, or maintaining major appliances" among the businesses a service dealer is in. California's Bureau of Household Goods and Services registers appliance service dealers, so check its licensee pages for the current rule. Other states have different rules or none, so start with your state's consumer protection office, listed at USA.gov, and ask which agency, if any, registers appliance repair.
Do I need Local Services Ads for an appliance repair business?
We would run them alongside SEO if you need calls before your pages rank. Appliance repair is in the first group of categories Google lists for the August 2026 move of Local Services Ads into Google Ads. Google says existing campaigns migrate to Performance Max with pay-per-lead goals, so check your own account for what it asks you to verify.
Should I build a page for every appliance brand?
Only for brands you service and can describe in detail. 'Whirlpool washer repair' draws about 135,000 searches a month and 'samsung refrigerator repair' about 60,500, so those are worth pages. A brand with little search and no work from you is not.
